Now to the elephant in the room, Nintendo and how they react to E-Sports. As they were an active sponsor in the event, it shows that they have changed their thoughts about using their games in E-Sports and events like EVO and APEX. From Nintendo trying to block the stream back in EVO 2013 to in EVO 2015 and Bill Trinen going to participate in the event. In the end, he was unable to participate because he was at Satoru Iwata's Funeral.

Now, as they are having more of a positive view with E-sports,  lots of competitive games like Pokémon and Smash Melee and Smash 4 and Splatoon. (The next update will allow you to make teams with people you know and there is a tower control mode as well.) and they reintroduced the Nintendo World Championships and at EVO they even had a Splatoon Booth. They have been focusing on improving their image within the E-sport community.
Hopefully, Nintendo will adapt to this trend as well and they could make more competitions around the world making more people participate and making their games more popular as well in both a competive and just lesiurely way.
