WE HAVE MOVED https://2windblog.wordpress.com/

Hey Guys a quick announcement

I have been thinking a lot about M4G and how it seems that I have forgotten you guys, but I haven't. Instead, we have moved to another blog called Second Wind.
2nd-wind

It has the same stuff as here, but I am able to change it to a name that sounds more professional (We don't even talk about manga here anyway,) Also, I am able to spread my wings a bit more there as I have started to make a series reporting on the news there.

It has been quite a while since I had started here and I cannot thank you enough for all your help and support keeping this blog alive, We will still have all our posts here and I have been planning to remake some posts over on our new site.

Here's is the new link for Second Wind: https://2windblog.wordpress.com/

Many thanks and I hope to see you guys there

Sonic Colours, The best Sonic Game for over a decade.

Sonic games have been quite a mix with the results. From Critically Acclaimed Games like Sonic 3 and Knuckles and Sonic 2, Ok Games like the first Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Adventure to outright bad games like Sonic 06 and Sonic Boom (Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal). But when the team at Sega get it right, they do it well. With a mix of platforming and just the cool high-speed action that we are used to, this is the first Sonic game in the Modern era that has been seen by most critics as a good game. This game is Sonic Colours

Story’s Beginning (minor spoilers)
The Story begins with Sonic and tails going to Eggman's’ new interstellar amusement park because they think that Eggman is up to no good. At first, everything is looking normal and nothing seems to be wrong, but then they then see Eggman's hench-bots catching little aliens called Wisps for reasons and now it means that it now Sonic’s job to find out what’s Eggman's planning and to stop it at all costs.

The Gameplay
Source:SEGA

The Gameplay is a fusion of the high-speed action that we usually favour in Sonic games and love going through, while other levels are platformers and jumping which slow down the gameplay and make you think about your next actions instead (which many people have panned the series for in the past). What they have done is put both of these types of stages in the game in moderation so there will be some levels that you will not like but there will be some levels that make you play a fast paced sonic game that we all love.

Bosses and Enemy’s

Very easy, hit them a few times (little to no diversity in this one). All stages share the same boss to another one so learn that weakness and the next boss should be very easy.

The Gimmick

Cause most if not all Sonic games have some kind of gimmick that can make or break the game. In this game, the gimmick is the aliens that are called Wisps. These creatures have the power to power up sonic to a variety of forms, from laser that makes Sonic go places in light speeds to hover that makes sonic fly but gives you the power to use the ring dash ability. This gimmick is one of the best gimmicks because that it doesn’t feel that you have to depend on it too much and it doesn’t slow you down or hinder the performance so much that it’s tedious most of the time.

The Music

The Music in this game is one of best that I have listened to in Sonic Games, Sonic Games have never really been bad in Sonic Games. With Classics like Green Hill Zone and Emerald Hill Zone to songs in the modern era like Spagonia (Day) and Crisis City. Nothing feels out of place and there are 3 types of music in each stage, this gives a lot of variety to the game as it stops them from just being stale.

Anyway to the Pros and Cons

Pros.
P. One of the best Sonic Games in the Modern Era.
P. Great fun in some of the stages.
P. Wisps are a great addition to the game.
P. Stage designs are one of the best yet.
P. Music is great.
P. Witty lines from all of the cast in the Cut scenes.
P. You can unlock Super Sonic.
P. The 2 player feature, Sonic Simulator, is really fun to play with a friend.

Cons
C. Can be tedious at times, especially with the platforming levels.
C. Bosses and enemies can be boring as they are just basic and the bosses are repeated with little or no change.
C. Sometimes the game can kill you unfairly.
C. The game can punish you for going fast sometimes which Is counter-productive to the series.
C. Controlling sonic in some of the areas can be annoying and just unresponsive.
Conclusion.

This is by far one of the best Sonic games of the Modern era. With its dynamic gameplay, most levels being fast paced and the wisp gimmick helping out Sonic in the game instead of hindering the hedgehog and with the next game in the series following suite (Sonic Generations). Those two years had Sonic at his highest point since a decade. Let’s hope Sonic Mania and the Sonic 2017 are like those gems.

Pokkén Review

Fighting games have come far from the normal health bar which goes towards the counter that came in the early 90's to special moves like wave dashing and L-Canceling that changed the metagame. But this game has made a new change where it gives you two phases to fight your opponent in and master. This game is Pokkén Tournament.

Developers: ThePokemon Company, Bandai Namco Entertainment
Recommended Price: £20-$30

What is Pokkén?

Pokkén Tournament is a Pokémon fighting game where you can play with 16 Pokémon (with 720 Pokemon to choose from why only 16?). The movement in this game is the most unique that I have ever played in a fighting game. This is because they have mixed a zoning mode where you can move around freely and a duel phase which is similar to Street Fighter and other fighting games that use the same formula. Also, another new feature that we have in the game is we get cheering from Nia (our advisor). She can give you some boosts to your character and how they play and can affect your strategies in the game, she can also give you some advice on how you can play and what's the best thing to do in battle. But if you want to you can make her speak less you can.

The Playable Pokemon
Image result for pokken tournament roster
The 16 Pokemon are put into 4 Classes, Standard, Power, Speed, and Technical. These mean that some characters will have better movement and control in different stances of the game. This means that you can use some skill to beat your opponent, (or spam the same move like there's no tomorrow). Also, there are support Pokemon that can aid you in battle or hinder you in battle. There are 15 sets of pokémon that can assist you in battle but you only bring one into battle but you can change it between battles.

Online Play
The online play on this game is very good, in almost every single match that I played, it was a solid 60fps, but online can be stressful, it has the same problems as other fighting games and their opponents. But another problem that I got was opponent balancing, Sometimes I was given opponents ranks above and sometimes I was given opponents that were below me. There was no consistency of the people that I faced, I just had to hope that my experience in fighting games would give me the upper hand.

Anyway to the Pros and Cons

Pros
The online is solid
The Playable Pokémon are good
You can pull some cool combos
The Duel and Field Phase is creative and gives a positive change to the genre of fighting games.

Cons
Game is Unbalanced (not slightly off balanced,)
You can't turn off Nia (your advisor) off completely
Battling system can be confusing as the characters also change move sets
Some characters are just cheap (looking at you Chandelure and Braxien)
The story mode is lackluster and is just boring
The roster is small and has no excuse to be. (Maybe time to develop the characters but really, Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan may have been good to add)

This game has all the things to make it an excellent fighting game, however, it just underperforms in some key features. If the Pokkén team fix a few things here and there, I feel that the Pokkén scene could rival even Smash Bros. But for now, I feel that it's a bit lackluster at best.

Skullgirls Classic Game Review.

Fighters have always been one of my favorite genres of gaming for a long time. From Street Fighter 2, to playing SSF2 with my brothers on the computer at home. However, few make me want to put time into them and learn the techniques and movements. This game is one of those rare gems. It's SkullGirls 2nd Encore.

Developers: Lab Zero
Average price: Around $10 on Steam, $20 on other markets
Platforms that the game is on: PC,Xbox and PSN

The Plot

Set in the Canopy Kingdom. It revolves around an artifact called the Skull Heart, this artifact can grant one wish to any female that finds it. However, if the wish is un-pure it will corrupt the user and turn them into a monster of mass destruction called the SkullGirl. However, this SkullGirl is making a scene and has attracted a number of people to try to take the Skull Heart from her for their own intentions. Will they destroy the artifact of power or will they be corrupted to wish upon it?

The Gameplay

The Gameplay for this game is solid, running at a smooth 60fps. The characters movements are dynamic and all their different animations and sounds show what type of hit they have just done. However, the problem that I feel with their gameplay is that I am unable to do the locks that the game is famous for as I feel that they are complicated. All the character animations are hand drawn frame by frame. The music suits the stage that it's on very well so you won't have the feeling that something is missing on the stage like the music not matching the atmosphere.

The Characters

There are eight characters in this game (14 if you count DLC). All these characters have their own unique features and abilities that can help them in battle. For example, Double has the power of use some of the move sets of other characters and link them in battle. While in contrast Ms.Fourtue can take off her head and use it as a weapon in battle (similar to Rosalina and Luma in Super Smash Bros.)

The Characters range from rush down characters that deal a lot of damage if they get into your space e.g. Painwheel and Filia to zoning characters (Characters that can attack from a distance) like Peacock and Parasoul. To just having great mobility (e.g Ms.Fortune and Valentine.)

All these characters have a story mode where you can discover the personality of the characters and what their intentions are of the people that hunt the artifact. This puts a new perceptive on the characters than just fighters on the screen and the people at Lab Zero has done a good job of giving these characters life.

Now for the Pros and Cons

Pros
-Looks so good
-Characters actually have personality
-Gameplay is solid
-All the characters feel unique, even the clone is unique
-DLC is actually worth buying
-Music is just awesome.

Cons
-There's no straight story line (that annoys me)
-The controls can be hard to master, especially if you want to play this competitively
-There was no one online for play with online when I went on.
-The roster is a bit small

Overall.
There are a few fighting games that are top class and will be remembered for all time and this is one of them. With its dynamic style of gameplay, fighting abilities just the characters and the music. I hope more games follow the example of Skullgirls and I hope Lab Zero can make another blockbuster like this one.

The Next Grand Revival of M4G

Hello

I am SoopahGamer, the co-owner/editor for M4G and this was what I ran, solo, for quite a while, but lately I have been busy as I have taken up a job and I was in college. Now I am starting University and I feel that it's time to raise this blog out of the ground and restore it to its former glory and beyond. There are going to be some major changes here so here is some of the things that I plan to do.

Redesigning the Blog,
From Day 1, the design has been annoying me. I felt that it was too messy and it got in the way too much of the main content, however, I do want some important information on the screen, So I plan to tidy it up and maybe change the design for it to be appealing for people to read and enjoy and return to.

The News
Ok, I haven't reported in a while, (I have been very busy), So I plan to focus on 3 main things while I am doing this, 1. News (this is a news blog first) 2. Reviews (We have done those for a few games in the past. The confirmed ones are going to be for the games, Harvest Moon (SNES) and SkullGirls which will be in development as soon as this post is finished.). 3. (Maybe) Interview. As a smash Player, I sometimes meet a few good players from the community and others that are under appreciated as players, so I plan to spread their name and get more players to notice them (most of them will be from the UK.)

The future...

Who knows, Youtube, us getting taken seriously as a blog and a news source, Collabs. With your help, that will all be possible and we can improve as a site. Leave feedback, all kinds of feedback and I will read through it because, with your help, we can make this revival a grand one!!

Thank you and have an awesome day

This is SoopahGamer Signing off

Until Next Time!

The Revival of Manga4Geeks

Hey Guys it's SoopahGamer.

So it's been a while since I did this again hasn't it.

I'm so sorry that I haven't posted anything in such a long time. I had schoolwork to do and I was leading a team of Smash and Splatoon players and I was looking for a University this year so these were all problems that took up my time and some family problems got in the way so that was a thing.

I have learned so much from this site and what to do. However all the problems started when I wanted to grow it too quickly and I got impatient so after around 2 years of running this page. I went AFK and I went to work on some side projects. One of them is that I am now a SSB4 Player in the UK and I go to tournaments there so I trained a lot. But as my college year is ending and I will soon be bored. I feel like it's time to revive this awesome site for what it is.

Anyway lets get to the revival

I plan to get news and give you a realese every week and then I will a round up of the week's news that I report on and others I missed.

Also I plan to talk about e-sports news about Smash (Melee and 4 and others if they pick up steam) small and big. Pokken Tournament and maybe Splatoon.

Also this is your turn to see what I should talk about in the future. Just comment and I will think about it.

See ya

Pokémon News. Zygrade and Pokemon Go

Well, it hasn't been that long since Pokémon has released news with Pokkén Tournament and the end of the Grand Nationals, but Pokémon is still not finished with their news. There has been two big news releases in the Pokémon Universe.

1. Pokémon Go (Pokemon in the real world) (released 2016 IPhone and Android)

Pokémon is going to be on Android and Apple App Store as a real time/location Pokemon game, which you can find Pokémon in the wild in forests and in the city, you can trade Pokémon and battle other people either locally or around the world, and according to the advertisements, you will be able to fight legendary Pokemon with other people as an event in large areas (e.g. Piccadilly circus or Times Square.)

This game is a collaboration between Nintendo, The Pokémon Company and Nianitc inc.

Niantic inc is a company made up of former employees of Google and are the people that developed the game Ingress.

The game will also come with a gadget called the Pokémon Go Plus, this will connect to your device via Bluetooth and will warn you if any Pokémon are nearby as well. More info will be coming soon so stay tuned.

2. New forms for Zygrade and Greninja.

CoroCoro Magazine has leaked some news on Zygrade, the blob thing that was in the movie is actually Zygrade's core and will link with Zygrade to make news forms for him, His normal form is 50% form, he has a dog form which is fast called the 10% form and he has a 100% form which looks like a Gundam, which is awesome.

Pokémon X & Y
Perfect Zygrade!!
This could mean that Pokémon Z may be coming out as well!!!

Greninja also has a new form which is called the Satori (Ash) form and his art design is similar  to Ash.
Mega Greninja???

Anyway it's good to see Nintendo adapting with the times and not depending on their consoles anymore and going to the much more popular mobile market and I wish all the best for them.
