Classic Game Review, Sonic Generations.

If you can, please support our Patreon, it will help us in the future. Link is here.

Quoting Nintendo Fan FTW, "Sonic games are like the lottery" and it is true. There are the borderline games like Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Lost World and bad ones like Sonic Boom and Sonic 06.

However when they do it right, it's a sight to behold. There are were two games that most Sonic fans have loved recently, these were Sonic Colours which got good reviews all around, however, the game that got the best reviews was none other than the 20th Anniversary thank you/apology to Sonic fans. This diamond was none other than Sonic Generations.

The Good Points.

This game takes all the good levels on sonic games and gives them an upgrade and it depending on the Sonic that you prefer. If you like Classic Sonic, there are great platforming stages that benefit his playstyle and there are stages that keep the speed up and doesn't slow you down at all, like the old games.

For the stages that have Modern Sonic; the stages have one thing is common. Speed!!!!
These levels have shortcuts, platforms and they do not slow you down a little bit, you are always in motion and even though there are times that you have to slow down, it sometimes means that you have to let go of your boost and that's it, or if you are that good you can just jump just in time.

The Bosses are good as well, as Metal Sonic from Sonic CD comes to fight and so does Shadow and Silver, so you will have some fun with them as well and there are challenges with other characters as well and challenges with speed in mind or just not getting killed. This means that there could be so much to do postgame as well.

Music, in short, is some of thee best ingame music that you will listen to. Usually there is one or two tracks that I will listen to while I am work and I listen to almost all the tracks that are in this awesome game.

Flaws

The Plot....

It feels like they made it up to fit it in a story for the anniversary, it doesn't feel like a story, it just feels more like a excuse to do it.

Sometimes the controls can glitch or the gameplay can be a bit clunky, slowing you down or even making you restart a whole level.

Otherwise this game is one of the best Sonic Games that has come out since 2010.

Conclusion

This game is a work of art, it shows that if Sonic team really want to make a fantastic Sonic game, they can and with Sonic Colours hitting the nail before as well, it seems that there will be a future for Sonic the Hedgehog if they focus on what made him great in the first place. High Speed Platforming Action.
Game Score 9100*

*I'm only scoring them just over the belt because it looks like they didn't learn their lesson with the release of the mess that is Sonic Boom.
